Water absorbs and releases, washes and sculpts, caresses and destroys: but in the midst of such dichotomies, water is forever the font of creation.
The “Giardini d’Acqua” or “Water Gardens” project is dedicated to the protection and regeneration of the natural landscape near Torre Castiglione (in the town of Porto Cesareo). It was started in order to draw attention to and record its current condition, as well as potential risks to this peculiar coastal terrain. Known locally as “le spunnulate,” or “the sunken ones,” this constellation of small and large rock cavities complete with standing water are like a garden, meant to be enjoyed with an attentive gaze.
